County Commissioner – District 3
Mark Heirbrandt attended Ben Davis High School on the west side of Indianapolis where he participated in Track & Field and Football. Mark started working at an early age with his father’s construction company as well as a morning paper route all through Junior High & High School.
He was fortunate to receive a Track & Field scholarship to attend the University of Indianapolis where he graduated with a double major in Chemistry & Biology. Mark held the Pole Vault School Record for several years while at University of Indianapolis.
Over the past 18 years, Mark has worked in the Water & Energy-Efficiency business and travels the state working with elected officials in the local government market to improve the operations of their facilities with energy savings improvements. Mark served on the City of Westfield Public Board of Works for 6 years where he was involved in the negotiation and sale of the Water Utility to Citizen’s Energy Group for $91 million dollars and began serving as Hamilton County Commissioner in 2013.
Mark has been a resident of Hamilton County for over 25 years living in Noblesville, Carmel and now resides in Westfield. He has been married to Gina for 25 years and has three boys, Blake, Ethan & Evan. He is very active in the Catholic community and member of Saint Maria Goretti Parish in Westfield.
As a County Commissioner, Mark was instrumental in the negotiation with INDOT & the Governor’s Office to make improvements to State Road 37 receiving $100 million dollars to improve the traffic along this corridor. In addition, securing another $25 million dollars of Federal Funds for other County Road Projects.
Mark utilized his energy experience to assist the Hamilton County Building & Grounds to implement energy savings improvements to multiple Hamilton County owned facilities. This included LED lighting, building automation controls, natural gas purchase plan, CNG vehicles, HVAC improvements generating significant energy & operations savings while obtaining utility rebates for Hamilton County.

Involved in numerous charity work with Janus Development, The Youth Assistance Program, The Cherish Center, The Humane Society of Hamilton County, Boys Scouts, Boys & Girls Club, Meals & Wheels and St. Maria Goretti Parish.
My focus is on Families, advocate for fair School funding, Parks, Trails, Roads and Quality of Life advocate to make Hamilton County a destination place to live and raise a family are continued initiatives that the Commissioners work for on a daily basis. Continued communication & collaboration with other elected officials throughout the county to unify strengths have also been strong goals.
