County Council At-Large

My name is Rick McKinney and I am a current County Council member. I ran for re-election because I want to promote and maintain the fiscally conservative stewardship over the finances of Hamilton County that has been established during my tenure on the County Council. This effort has earned Hamilton County Government a “AAA” credit rating — the highest possible.

At the same time, I strongly support the priorities of spending your taxpayer dollars on Public Safety, Pavement (roads and bridges), and Parks (including the Monon Trail), which preserve and enhance the nationally recognized quality of life within Hamilton County.

I seek to make my decision making as independent and impartial as possible. I do not seek to please any other elected officials, but instead look to do what’s best for you, the taxpayer. I believe that focus will help keep Hamilton County a very desirable place in which to live, work, and play.

I have lived in Carmel and Westfield for 30 years and also worked in Fishers for 5 years. Today, I own a small business that allows me to travel extensively throughout the County on a daily basis.

Personally, I have been married for over 33 years to my wife Cheryl and we have three sons: Zachary, Daniel and Sean. I have both a bachelor’s degree and an MBA. Prior to starting my own business, my corporate career consisted of 18 years in financial operations management with INB National Bank and USA Group.
